Have you looked at Optize - I can highly recommend them - here's a search for Sony MiniDV only cameras (the combination which I would personally recommend): http://www.optize.es/servlet/navigat...odoOrden=false MiniDV will give you the best quality for the least amount of messing around and there is plenty of software to do simple edits and conversion to MPEG4 for Utube after uploading the footage to computer with a firewire cable. Also do a google search for getting the best Utube quality - the trick is to start with the highest quality footage and use software to compress it yourself to their requirements to avoid them using their low quailty compression techniques and or recompressing what you have already done compounding any defects in the quality of the material. As for battery life - most of us are resigned to carrying extras around - I always carry a number of fully charged high capacity batteries when on a shoot as well as using an in-car charger (I do mainly Wildlife / Adventure stuff). Most cameras come with a battery that lasts around an hour or two if you are lucky. Hope that helps. Rob |

I think that I must buy a good Sony one tht I must to see and check personally, but I need many more cheaper, so please let me to know your opinion about 100 Euros or so simple camaras like, for instance, the ones you can see at: http://www.optize.es/servlet/TOSHIBA...22_optize.html or at http://www.optize.es/servlet/VIDEOCA..._op tize.html I think that latest models can be good enough to improve videos like the ones at http://www.miguelgallardo.es/vicios/ocultos or any of the ones you can also see at www.cita.es or www.miguelgallardo.es |

I hope someone else can chip in with a word from actual experience - I did find a short clip made with the Toshiba Camileo: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/785561/cavalcades_2007/ The quality is variable but some sections seem perfectly good enough for Utube - and if you shoot at 640x480 and avoid the 320 setting, plus use of a tripod - even under decent lighting conditions - you may get what you're looking for. ?97 plus IVA isn't a bad price at all - perhaps Optize will do you a deal where you try one out with the understanding that if they are what you need you will buy a bulk quantity. If not they will take it back. It's worth asking their sales dept. They are very good when it comes to service, delivery and returns; but I've never asked them to take back an item because "I don't like it"! ![]() Rob Maybe Optize will |

| On a sunny day (Mon, 27 Aug 2007 19:51:21 +0200) it happened "RobDee" wrote in : Ok, well the question boils down to: Are these MPEG4 cameras of sufficiently good quality? I hope someone else can chip in with a word from actual experience - I tested the Mustek DV9300, and it is based on the same design as the two mentioned here I think: http://panteltje.com/serendipity/ind...xperience.html The biggest problem is that there is no optical zoom, the second problem is the rotten sound, the third problem is the battery is flat in a week if you leave it in. I did put something on youtube I made with it: http://www.youtube.com/v/iUOcbMoimYg That is done in 640x480 @25fps converted to DivX4 2 pass. Never in true focus, could not zoom in on the plane, and could not see the viewfinder against the sun, so had to guess (no optical viewfinder). But the color is OK, and somehow it did not pixelate while panning _this_ time ;-) Low light = no picture, but hey, it is fun to have around for sudden things _IF_ you have enough time to find the battery to put it in, as you have to keep it out, else it is empty when you need it. Plus: 2GB SD card works, 640x480 @30fps mpeg4 works, more then many digital cameras can. I just should axe it up one day and put a real lens on it..... If I were you, I would spend some more and get one with optical zoom and a decent lens and some for mof focus (auto or manual). You will need it. |

I would suggest a box of cracker jacks. You may get lucky, baring that any $200 camcorder should do the job. Though you will have to spend money on the software to make the quality and content crap, that won't be cheap. Somebody! |

Obviously, the more you spend, better you get but the point is that 200 Euros was nothing some years ago for digital video and now you can make something good enough for You Tube. One of the most important things for my pourposes is audio quality, so I need a microphone jack and no delay like the one you can see in the videos that I published at www.miguelgallardo.es and www.cita.es But I must to sell with profit giving technical support to my customers so I hope to find something for 200 Euros or cheaper. My experience is that the latest model is almost always cheaper and better. Do you know where to find the last ones for that price? miguel, www.cita.es/commercial/agent |
