| I've just discovered WMM and it seems nice and simple and the ideal program for my needs (plus its free ;-) However, I haven't been able to get beyond capturing a chunk of video before I hit a big snag, so maybe someone here can help with my problem. I'm aiming to archive some old VHS home-movie tapes by converting to DV (via a Sony HC1000E mini-DV cam), capturing into WMM as DV-avi, editing down to around 5GB chunks and then saving to DVDs. I've captured my 30min tape via WMM, but the resultant clip only appears to be a few seconds long when dragged to the timeline in WMM. This is odd because the file saved to disc is the full 6GB 30min version and plays just fine in WMP etc when double clicked. And when I click on the clip's file in WMM, its properties show it as 6GB too. How do I get the full file to appear in the timeline so that I can edit out redundant scenes to reduce it to a convenient size? Thanks in advance, -Neil F. |

When you import the Video File it will or should make clips based on the starts and stops of your film making. You may have stopped importing as soon as you saw the first clip so try importing from the HDD again. Note though Movie maker does not make DVD's for viewing on an external Player as it outputs in DVavi or wmv. The DV avi could be rendered with Nero or such to make one but then if you have Nero you could edit with that |

It can create clips one of two ways, either by referencing these mark-in and -out points separately from the AVI or by saving them as completely separate AVIs. Not sure which method WMM uses, but if it uses the referencing technique, you could be seeing just the first clip from the AVI when you drag it to the timeline. If that were the case, though, you'd see other clips on the storyboard too. |

Is it possible to add a short, say 2 second, blank onto the begining of a movie please ? James |

You cant add Nothing, so you must add a Black Or other coulour set of frames to last the 2 second's Like a Black Jpeg set to run for 2 Secs Like in a slide show -- Trev You can always tell a Yorkshire man, But you can't tell him much. |
