| Hi, I am posting this here as so far none of the usernames/passwords supplied to me over my history using Studio 8/9 upgrade, and now 11/11 Beta have actually been recognised by the Pinnacle website. Call me cynical but my frustrating experience has lead to believe this is an easy way to reduce the number of support questions to which Pinnacle need to reply. I recently bought Windows Vista Home Premium and installed it on my PC dual booting with Windows XP. I have already quite happily been using Pinnacle Studio 8 including a later upgrade to Pinnacle Studio 9 with XP. After buying Vista I decided to purchase Pinnacle Studio 11 Plus as I felt with the advertised stability of Vista and the new Avid upgrade of Pinnacle Studio I would enjoy a new level of performance and stability with the latest version. My PC specification listed by Vista is as follows:- Component Details Subscore Processor AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2500+ (1.84Ghz) 3.2 Memory (RAM) 2.00 GB 4.1 Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT 256MB 5.9 Gaming graphics 654 MB Total available graphics memory 5.4 Primary hard disk 32GB Free (55GB Total) 5.0 Base score Determined by lowest subscore 3.2 So far I have not been able to run Pinnacle Studio 11 Plus after installing it 4 times. 1) First install was over an attempt to install Pinnacle Studio 8/9 on Vista which wasn't compatible with Vista. Studio 11 installed almost completely before Vista gave a message that there was a problem and it would close Pinnacle Studio 11. When trying to run Pinnacle Studio 11 it reached 12% before Vista gave the same message about having to close the program. 2) Thinking the attempt to install the earlier version of Pinnacle Studio 8 may have caused conflicts I formatted my Vista partition and completely re-installed Vista and then attempted to install Studio 11 for a second time. I still had the same problem as after the 1st install and when trying to start Studio 11 it again stopped at 12% while loading before Vista insisted it had to close the program again. 3) I tried uninstalling Pinnacle Studio and copying the entire installation disk contents to the Desktop before running setup from Vista Safe Mode as suggested on the Pinnacle website support area. The installation went smoothly with no apparent errors. This time after rebooting Vista Studio 11 Plus wouldn't even start giving the following message:- "The application has failed to start because it's side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the event log for more detail." 4) I tried uninstalling Pinnacle again, rebooting then running the RegDelete program downloaded from the Pinnacle website and then installing once more from Safe Mode. I still got the same error as from installation attempt 3) :- "The application has failed to start because it's side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the event log for more detail." I checked the Vista event log and found the following entries, first for a "side-by-side" error :- - Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event" - System Provider Name="SideBySide" / EventID Qualifiers="49409"33/EventID Level2/Level Task0/Task Keywords0x80000000000000/Keywords TimeCreated SystemTime="2007-06-09T13:00:09.000Z" / EventRecordID667/EventRecordID ChannelApplication/Channel ComputerBAZ-1/Computer Security / /System - EventData DataMicrosoft.VC80.CRT,processorArchitecture="x8 6",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32", version="8.0.50727.762"/Data Data / Data / Data / Data / Data / Data / Data / Data / Data / DataC:\Program Files\Pinnacle\Studio 11\programs\Studio.exe/Data Data / Data / Data / Data / Data / Data / Data / Data / Data / /EventData /Event And then an application error:- - Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event" - System Provider Name="Application Error" / EventID Qualifiers="0"1000/EventID Level2/Level Task100/Task Keywords0x80000000000000/Keywords TimeCreated SystemTime="2007-06-09T08:27:23.000Z" / EventRecordID409/EventRecordID ChannelApplication/Channel ComputerBAZ-1/Computer Security / /System - EventData DataStudio.exe/Data Data11.0.0.5082/Data Data4616b026/Data DataSaFireU.dll/Data Data1.0.83.0/Data Data44242edb/Data Datac000001d/Data Data00044ad2/Data Datae40/Data Data01c7aa6ffe158227/Data /EventData /Event After downloading the Beta package and installing that I got a further 5 or so "side-by-side" error messages. Thanks for any assistance offered. Regards, Barry Webber. |

| Hi all, I have managed to resolve this issue although the solution was drastic and cost more money. I upgraded my motherboard to to an Asrock 775i65G together with an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 processor and now Pinnacle Studio works fine after installing without any problems. My old setup should have handled the job ok - an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe motherboard with an AMD Athlon XP 3200 running at 2500 - I guess due to the age of the components it was not upto Pinnacle Studio 11's requirements. The old setup ran Studio 8/9 without any major problems apart from the occasional freeze up. The new Asrock mobo is AGP and just took all of my internal components straight from the old setup. I hope this helps anyone having similar issues. Regards, Barry Webber.
