No. Not a stupid question at all. This newsgroup has very low traffic so some questions may not get answered at all..... Anyway, back to the point It depends what you mean by use. | "Beemer" wrote Can I use Video 8 tape in my Sony Digital 8 camera? Are there any issues? I've used plain old Video8 tapes in 2 different Digital 8 camcorders, for recording and playback in Digital8 format, without ever encountering any problems. hth Neil |

Perhaps they are not "metal type" and this is why they are lower cost? Beemer |

| "Beemer" wrote Neil, Are the video 8 tapes "metal type" like I believe the Digital 8 ones are? Beemer Just grabbed one from the shelf- it's "BASF HG90 High Grade 8mm VideoCassette P5-90" Nowhere does it mention metal or metal evaporated, so I assume it's not. Beware that Video8 tapes used in a Digital 8 camcorder don't give you the same running time as in a Video8 camcorder- the tape runs through the camera's transport more quickly- so a 90 min tape will only give you 60 mins record/playback time. Otherwise no "issues". Neil |
