| I am hoping someone can help me please. I have been trying for weeks to 'burn' a DVD. I have managed to capture the video from the camera. At the time all I had available was Windows Movie Maker but I realised I was going to need something different for burning to a DVD that would play on a domestic DVD player. I have been trialling Ulead Movie Factory 5 which seemed quite easy to understand and after 1 hr 17 mins I managed to burn a DVD which has played on a player but there is no sound!! Don't know what the problem is, I am so frustrated trying to sort this out. I'm hoping someone can help and also could someone advise me of software which is easy to use and understand. I don't want to spend money on a product that I cant use. I thought Nero 7 might be good but I didn't get very far with that. Lynn |

Check the project properties by clicking on the Gear button on the lower left corner. You possibly need to select "MPEG" audio. If you like the rest of the package and decide to buy it, you'll get an option for Dolby Digital stereo, which you should use instead of MPEG. Make sure your video bitrate is under 7mbps (7000kbps) |

If all else fails, Google for "d2mp" [1], it's a freeware program (actually a suite of integrated programs all under the free GNU licence) that will produce a DVD from an avi file [2], it actually creates an .iso image file (as well as TS_files) that can then be burn straight to DVD disc, As I said, it's basic with only rudimentary menus - although there is a paid for d2mp+ version that offers more features - but it does seem to get the job done. :~) [1] http://d2mp.tripod.com/ [2] save your MM2 project, as a DV file, back to your HDD and work on it from there. |

Lynn Having a similar problem myself with MovieFactory3; supplied with A Terratec Grabster AV400 which I'm using to transcribe old VHS tapes onto DVD. Four MPG files created from one tape, all play fine on the PC, burnt onto DVD three are OK, but the other loses audio after a few seconds (whether burnt as a single file or as one of a set of four). Had some other stability issues with MovieFactory 3, certainly reluctant (at the least) to spend money on any of their later versions. Open to suggestions of alternative software (with more emphasis on performance/reliability and less on appearance). |

| Both yourself and Lynn will get a better response from: http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewforum.php?f=2 Although the forum is hosted by Ulead, it's still mostly the users that help with the problems. |

No I'm using the 1 month trial. Try burning at a low video data rate (4500kbps, for example) and using a PCM soundtrack. From the Ulead website: q.. I received MovieFactory 4 bundled with computer hardware. Whenever I play DVDs using Ulead DVD Player 2.0, I get no sound. I can play the DVDs with sound on Windows Media Player. a.. Not all features are available in all OEM (bundled) versions of DVD MovieFactory. Some features, such as support for Dolby® Digital audio, may not be available in your version. To take advantage of all features, including Dolby® Digital audio, you need to upgrade a Full version of DVD MovieFactory. |
