play
DVD-R DL.

recording software?

How many DVD-R DL are you having? Realistically I didn't see them in my
nearest store at all. All DL are +.

Regarding Region - sometimes it's critical to have this feature. In this
particular model it can be unblocked with 5 buttons.

a specific dvd zone ( region ) is not written by any domestic
equipment to my knowledge.
that is something that was added to appease hollywood studios and is
done at the mastering plant for pressed dvd's as with macrovision.
