Default Hitachi mx100e vcr & tuning Freeview channels

I've recently bought a freeview box which works fine. I've connected
everything up correctly and can still use my vcr to record from
terrestrial TV as before.

However, I've misplaced the instructions to my vcr so I am at a loss to
know how to 'tune in' the Freeview channels, should I ever want to
record them.

Can anyone help?

You can't tune in the Freeview channels as such. You can tune in the
Freeview box. Hopefully, it is connected to the VCR by a SCART cable.
Then when you want to record, just select AUX 1 (or whatever) as the
channel. You will record whatever the Freevew box is tuned to. If
you're connected by RF cable, allocate the box to a programme slot on
the VCR just as if you were tuning in a newly-transmitting TV station.
(But don't, do this, use SCART.)

Yeah, it's a nuisance not being able to tune Freeview channels
directly. That's why people are retiring their VCR machines and
buying hard disk recorders with built-in Freeview tuners. You get an
on-screen programme guide and directly select what you want to record.
You can burn programmes you want to keep to DVD (or even dub them to
VCR if you insist).

Scream about the redundancy of your VCR if you wish. But once you've
stopped screaming, try the new system. You'll like it.
