| Dear uk.re.video.digital users, I was hoping to get some advice from the group; I've tried all other avenues. Here's my situation: - I have a Sony PC101 that I bought in Ecuador to film my travels in South America. Now I've returned I want to mix my digital footage with vhs footage I have from previous trips. - The Sony PC101 has the capability, but not all of the products were shipped with the function enabled (apparently a licensing issue as DV-in qualifies as a VCR as well as camcorder), especially those sold outside Europe and America. - I was told by a guy in the Sony centre that i could probably get someone in tottenham court road to enable the function, but that I would effectively be infringing some licensing rights (hence they would not enable dv at the sony centre). My question to the group is twofold: 1) Would I be transgressing any serious laws if I had my pc101 dv-in enabled? 2) Where might I get this done? Your pointers, comments and suggestions gratefully received; I'm dying to get this project finished! Cheers, F |

| Where does one get just the cable, which is I believe a 2.5 jack to go into the lanC socket and a serial or parallel port socket on the other end? The software is downloadable from the internet, so I wonder how one can save cost by getting just the cable? Make one. |
