It's OK for anyone to do it - I was just commenting on the U turn.


It was in no way a U turn, it was highlighting the problem of people
deciding that they should reply to long dead messages that they
either never replied to when current or missed for what ever reason.


Having said that, it's one thing to respond to a long-dead thread

with
information that's helpful, or thought to be helpful. It's quite

another to
respond with something pointless


But that is what all information to dead threads is, especially if
there is no previous context with the message, considering that most
questions come around again and again (no one seems to bother to do
any of their own research now before posting a question) why not just
wait until the subject is current again?
