I'm a newbie to DVI-I (digital video interface integrated)
I have a new video graphics adapter with DVI-I port
I wanted to know what this port would connect to ??
what sort of electrical appliances now support DVI-I ??

Digital LCD monitors. I've been using this connection for 20 months now
with my 17" LG Flatron 782LE monitor.

It gives a much better picture than using the 15-pin D-Type connector.
Sharper, crisper and better colour integrity. Also it's easier to
calibrate your monitor and to match your monitor/scanner/printer's
colours/contrast/brightness (though it takes a little time and
patience).

As far as I'm aware, you could get an adapter, and hook it up to a second
monitor and use it as a preview during editing??

Would depend on the card. My Matrox g550 can output to two monitor or one
monitor and a TV/VCR Later cards do 2 monitors and a TV/VCR. The adapter is
available on the matrox shop site Costs twice the price in postage as the
actual lead In other words Its TV out.

I'm sure that if the video card supports DVI and VGA you can use an adaptor
to output two video signals to two different monitors.

I'm about to get a Gainward GeForce 4200ti that has DVI and come with an
adaptor in the box.

If you look on the Pinnacle web board there are numerous posts about
outputting to a separate monitor. If Studio can do it, I would have thought
that other editing progs could do it.

The post on the pinnacle board talked about selecting the preview area and
zooming it to full screen on the second monitor. I've not tried it yet, but
others have.

Is this a DVI to VGA adapter? AFAIK all graphic cards that have DVI also
provide VGA on D15.

Nope, I installed an Nvidia card today which had a single DVI
connector and came with a cable to drive two VGA monitors. Sorry, I
don't know what the model number was. My own Radeon card has both DVI
and D15 but also came with a DVI to VGA cable.
