Where I can find reviews and statistics of errors for each brand? http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm I don't really trust brands, for the making is not constant. One box can come from one facility and the next from an other. I had this summer to copy 100 cd's from a friend collection. all where Verbatim, a brand with a very good reputation down here. Three of them where out of order (unreadible or only partially readible). 3% is not small. on an other way, I have nearly 1000 very cheap disks and not more than 3% leaks. jdd -- pour m'écrire, aller sur: http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.net http://arvamip.free.fr |

I found such think, but very rarely, and this of very little concern, given it's easy to throw it to trash can an burn an other. For me, bad is a disk I burn and can't read 3 months after :-(( always backup twice important thing (I use to copy my good videos to all the family, there will always be one available in case :-) jdd -- pour m'écrire, aller sur: http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.net http://arvamip.free.fr |

| In message , Duram writes What is the best DVD-R and DVD+-RW blank medias brands? Where I can find reviews and statistics of errors for each brand? As someone has already pointed out, many (most?) DVD blanks on sale are "badged". To find out the OEM and type of any DVD disk, go to: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/DVD_Identifier.htm download and run with a DVD in your drive. I consistently use RitekG05 (as do as several of my friends) which is a DVD-R. A local computer shop (VFM-Computers) sells these unbranded at £15 for 50. This particular type is printable [1]. If you go to http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia and check there, you can find all about any particular brand, or about the original manufacturer. You can also search against "type" (e.g. RitekG05) to find the badged versions that are of this type. [1] Quite recently I invested in an Epson R200 just to be able to print labels on my DVDs and CDs. I'd highly recommend this printer BTW. And a complete set of replacement cartridges can be bought on Ebay for about £10. -- Tony Morgan http://www.camcord.info |

| Tony, I also bought an r200 recently, but was wary about replacing ink with cheaper ones. Have you had same results with ebay ink? Only someone recently told me they had problems with clogging and slower drying ink from similar replacements. "Tony Morgan" wrote in message ... Only someone recently told me they had problems with clogging and slower drying ink from similar replacements. I haven't had the need to use "compatible" ink cartridges yet, but two friends who've had their R200 for a couple of months have, and they've had no problems. I should perhaps mention that I've been using both "supplier-refilled" cartridges as well as refilling my own, for my Lexmark P3150 printer - and no problems, though when refilling my own I've stood the cartridges for 12 hours before using (as in the directions from by supplier). Since we're talking about printing CDs/DVDs, I might mention that I attempted to take the advice of someone who posted here and "fix" the printing on the DVD with a car-finish clear spray paint. Although I waited 24 hours for the printer ink to dry, the clear lacquer "puddled" on the surface without giving an even cover. -- Tony Morgan http://www.camcord.info |

| Thanks for that, I'll give them a go, nothing to lose - the printer is cheaper to replace than pay rip off prices for epson ink. Speaking of your lacquer exercise, I would prefer to wait on the next due development i.e. smudge free capable inkjet discs. "Necessity being the mother of all inventions" and all that???
