Default Canon MVX45i

Anyone who knows how to make a CANON MVX45i record well in shaded and dark
areas? I just bought it and trusted the stick on the box that says that it
had night mode and supernight mode but but it produces nothing but crap
after the sun goes down no matter what settings I try. It looks like it's a
piece of fraud from Canon that it should be able to perform anything in
shaded areas. It does have a built in light to help you out but I really
don't want to walk around like my father did 30 years ago with these
annoying light pointed to people i film. The camera seems useless to me since
with this performance I need another cam after sunset when on holiday. :-)
Thanks
Geir

Does it have a "slow shutter speed" mode ? On my Sony TRV22 this feature is
inder the heading of Dig Effects. It offers me slow shutter speeds of around
1/20, 1/10, 1/6 & 1/3s. In addition there's "Color Slow shutter" which
gives a 1/2" speed. Using the latter last November, I was able to capture,
in colour, the falling poppies projected on the Shell Building on the south
bank of the Thames. Holding the camera still was another problem!

Night mode is something else, probably where the infra-red filter is
removed, the colour turns to green, and the Super mode of this is where an
inbuilt IR lamp is turned on to add to the weird effect.
