DVD player has HDMI and projector also has HDMI. Which setting should give
the highest 'quality'?

Neither surely. Seeing as the video is stored on the DVD at SD resolution
(720x576). I say neither because the projector will be forced to upconvert the
576 line image.

So your projector can ouput 1920x1080? Try different resolutions to see what
looks best because the settings that should result in the best picture, may not.

It's not my system. But when I had a breif viewing, I couldn't tell the
difference between any of the modes 576i, 720p or 1080i.
The native projector resolution is 1280x720.
The DVD player can do the upconverting (and this was the method being used
during my viewing).

Are 720p or 1080i DVDs available?

No. DVD players aren't capable of outputting anything higher than 576i and 576p.

You can get a special version of some movies in 1080i to playback on your PC,
and of course view on your TV if it's connected to the PC.
