Thanks Colin Try looking at this link especially the postings from Gromit around May 25th onwards http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/8691/84713.html as his posts cover just about all the possibilities. regards Stuart www.mckears.com |

Just to confirm that when your original phrase "Window says my firewire card and controller are working ok" means that you can see a host entry in device manager under IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers. regards Stuart www.mckears.com If your not creating a network via IEEE 1394 then disable that network controller in Device Manager. It may not solve your problem but it could increase the windows loading speed. |

| Final thanks for all constructive assistance, I thought I would you good people know that after checking everything computer related I managed to borrow a camera of the same type as mine and as soon as this was connected through the firewire cable my computer recognised it and I had instant success, therefore I deduce firewire socket on my 7 month old camera is faulty and will be going for the relevant warranty repairs shortly. From this little episode I have now learnt not to take it for granted that just because something is almost new and never been used before does not mean that it will work ok ! Thanks again.
