To do what and for what?

RW can be used just like a Record once as far as formatting is concerned and
Later erased to be used again. This why its formatted on the fly at the
start of the burn.

It can also be formatted to allow packet writing, IE. used like a floppy
disc (if you know what one off them was) by IN CD, instant write or direct
Cd.

It can also be formatted by a stand alone DVD recorder on the fly at the
start of the recording session

My problem: I have a Sony stand alone DVD-Recorder. It accepts new +RW
Discs. The first step it takes is formatting the disc automatically.
No problem there.
If I use a +RW I had used in the computer, however, the Sony cannot
reaad it."Disc error" is all what I get. Erasing the disc in the
computer doesn't help. So I have to have 2 sets of +RW: the ones the
computer has touched and the others. Where do I go from here?
Thanks for your help

In my case Erasing with Incd then placing in my Sanyo brings up "this disc
must be erased before it can be used " then its ok for use. Maybe it does
not like the Brand of disc.
Oh silly question, you did only erase in the computer, you did not Format it
did you?

No do not format it in the computer as that will be for packet writing. Not
what we want

InCD is part of Nero and is used to erase RW discs
If you have Nero there will be entries in the disc's context menu for InCD
Erase.
Presumably you are using different burner software

I cant remember what express in 5 looked like. But I would be surprised if
it could erase. But users of Nero can download Incd from the web site
www.ahead.de
also look in the task bar if you have it the icon will be there. It works in
the background so you will not have a big dialogue box
