Default Audio codec?

Which audio compression to I need to select when converting dvd to divx ,
I only have the option for "uncompressed pcm" is that the right one for
reducing the file size the most ? (Using flaskmpeg)

Audio filesize is the least of your problems when converting video
formats.

not so, uncompressed audio (.wav/pcm) will be larger than compressed
divx video per the same running time

Well then you've answered your own question... ;-)

It depends on the audience PCs. You need to use one of the codecs that will
be installed on most or all of the PCs. If it's just yours, use whatever
gets the most compression and best quality (on mine it would be AC3).

ccitt
adpcm
pcm

no sign of ac3, I have no idea why it's not available, I have
win2000 sp4

Yeah, that's the point. If it's not on your machine, it's not necessarily
going to be on someone elses machine.

something is wrong here since my divx movies come out half the
size of original, the save should be six times. i see u dont know
so thanks for your helpfulness.

It's probably not available because you haven't installed it. It
doesn't come as part of Windows. Get an ac3 codec at
http://ac3filter.sourceforge.net/
