| I'm mucking about with the demo of DVD Lab, trying to get 16:9 output from ES4.1.4 on to disc. That I can do, to an extent. I've set up the menu, linked it all together, and compiled the DVD, which plays correctly on my PC with WinDVD6. The VOBs also play correctly with BSPlayer. When I burn the DVD it plays correctly in my PC under WinDVD, but on the TV both the menus and the video are cropped, losing a significant amount the of the picture. It's as if the playback has been put through pan & scan between my Pioneer DVD Player and Panasonic widescreen telly, and a Panasonic DVD recorder, and the same Panadonic widescreen telly. I've burnt the movie to DVD-RAM as standard DVD-RAM disc, and as a proper DVD. No joy with either. The video is captured in 16:9 from a Sony MiniDV camera - no problems with that, or any of the production process until I try to play it on the TV. Any ideas? I ramped up the video quality to maximum in ES, set the aspect ratio accordingly and so on. Away from the TV it's fine, on it, it's poo-poo. -- Hywel |

Can you not try it out with another TV, as everything seems to point to the TV being the cause of this? My Son bought a huge great fancy widescreen TV, told me how amazing it was etc. etc. When I went over to UK to visit, first thing I did was to sneakily set the picture up correctly - I didn?t say anything but sat back and watched as all the family started to comment on how the picture was suddenly much better! Rob Hywel So someone admits to tampering as well! Canīt help it, John. I was in a local Computer / Electrodomestico store and I just *had* to change the resolution of some of the monitors they had on display. The Guy was just about to tell me to "*** off" when he saw what I had been doing. He looked genuinely surprised, like a sort of "Wow! Didnīt know they were that good!" expression. While he contemplated the new improved pictures on their demo videos, I sauntered off to another part of the store. Still, theyīre not as bad as another well known computer store here which have all their latest machines displaying the same pop videos with sound and video resolution so bad I reckon someone originally recorded it on their mobile phone! And they wonder why no oneīs impressed with the machines. Iīm sure they donīt sell any! Rob |
