| Can anyone 'please' give me some sort of clue about what's going on with my computer, today I've tried to make some DVD's using two different burning programs, but everything recorded on to my HD via SVHS from a Freeview box sounds like the chipmunks on playback. This evening I logged onto Radio Seven to record my weekly fix of 'Journey into Space' as an MP3, using Audiograbber ( I've done so for the past 13 weeks without any problems) only to find that listening to it as streaming audio using 'Jet audio' (which yesterday after being prompted, I did download an upgrade for, I wonder could that and the problem by any chance be related ?) but it also sounds like a 33rpm gramophone record being played at 45 rpm... any help most welcome TIA. |

Could it be something to do with your sound driver's available DirectX filters? I had a problem yesterday that I still haven't managed to fix, but basically I couldn't hear voices on any of my videos. Ambient sound was fine - just the voices seemed very quiet. It only affects output on that PC. Sending an "affected" WAV across the network to be played from a different PC means I can hear it without the voice problem. It appears that the Karaoke filter has turned itself on for _all_ audio - and I can't see a way to turn it off (but then I haven't tried that hard - busy day). |

Perhaps you haven't noticed, but this is a video newsgroup. http://www.usenet.org.uk/uk.rec.video.digital.html gives you more information. -- Tony Morgan http://www.camcord.info |

Many thanks, without probably realising it you've sorted my problem! I'm finding my way around a recently installed Asus motherboard, which incorporates on-board audio with a host of fancy menus, delving into the karaoke keyboard one and clicking the reset button has restored everything back to normal, although why it should have altered in the first place is anyone's guess, as this is a facility that I would least want to use. |
