Default Studio 9 DVD burning problems

Can anybody help me.

Studio 9 gets all the way to the stage of DVD burning (on a Pioneer 105),
starts (leaving a sign of burning on the disk) and then fails almost strait
away.

Any comments on what might be wrong or ways round it would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Can you get it to write to Harddrive, check it, then write using Nero eg?

I know it's not quite what you asked - I don't know but that wil at least
check the DVD layout
