Default External microphone

At the moment we have a mono external microphone (with a battery) which
records onto one track. I can't see a way in Studio 8 to duplicate it on to
the other track. We would consider buying a new microphone, not an
expensive one. My question is does it have to be internally powered or will
the external mike socket on the camcorder power it? Canon MV30.

Maplin do adapters (3.5mm mono socket to 3.5mm stereo plug).

Oh, thanks. I'll pop along there in due course and get one. Our
existing microphone is good enough for what we need, so a few bob on an
adapter is fine.

Speaking of microphones.

Last Saturday I bought a brand new radio mic from Mold market for £10.
Only problems is that it's got a mono 0.25" jack on it. I intend to
re-build it with a 3.5mm socket to connect to the camcorder via a
flylead (or I might just fit a flylead with the 3.5mm on the end).

Then I'll be able to do those "live reporter" thingies... :-)
