I have. It seems to be a "feature" on the camera I have, so I gave it
a try once out of curiosity. What a waste of time!

Used a couple of times to send stills (via mobile phone) to friend overseas.
Would prefer to have this feature on my Canon 8.1 MP still camera however!

Yep.

Sony PC-120E with built-in browser and mail client.

Made a bluetooth connection to a Nokia 6310i and a dial-up connection
to my ISP.

That worked after about half an hour of fiddling.

Everything is supposed to be accomplished using the menu control
system, including cycling through the alphabet and pressing "enter" to
enter a URL or mail address.

Very, very, very fiddly and as far as I could make out absolutely no
use whatsoever. Except, maybe, to a die-hard gadget freak from Tokyo.

I was asking out of curiosity rather than anything more. With Bluetooth
limited to 723kbps, ISTM that you can't stuff video of any sort of
usability "down the pipe". Sending stills, perhaps yes. I'm not into the
latest gizmo mobiles, but it appears that at least some of the Bluetooth
enabled mobiles incorporate a camera that (if the sales blurb is to be
believed) can send video and stills to "friends and family" (aka a
remote mobile). But on reflection, is Bluetooth required for this?

I can only assume that the Bluetooth feature in (some) camcorders is
something that a marketing droid thought up, with the idea of selling
zillions more camcorders that have Bluetooth.

On balance that's probably right. However, I have managed to send stills
taken on a Sony digital camera (5 megapixel), then transferrred via memory
stick to the camcorder (not mine - I don't have this "feature"), the sent
via bluetooth to the phone and transported to someone in UK. The phone in
question, Sony Erricson, does have cmaera built in but only 800k or
thereabouts, so this somewhat contorted procedure has been of some use. I
can't see it catchin on however!
