| What is a hardly used in total mint condition TRV60 likely to be worth?? It has extra batteries an external microphone & is supplied with all that came in the box when new. All of the items are just 12 months old. |

Mine over-exposes in good sunlit conditions on full auto (and thus the Carl Zeiss "quality" moniker on the lens is totally wasted!), so it's pretty useless for quick "family video" snaps. OTOH, if I set the exposure manually, the results can be excellent, and the proper 16:9 works well. Also mine doesn't report what aperture it uses correctly. (My smaller TRV22 of the same vintage works totally fine on the 2 points where my TRV60 is screwed.) In my local Comets, I noted that the replacement HC85 (with the larger monitor screen) was now down to £599, so that should give you some idea. Batteries can cost ~£50 to £90 depending on capacity, and supplier. External mikes can cost anywhere from £10 to ~£160 for the recommended Sennheiser. Do see some footage taken in bright light before spending your money on it. -- M Stewart Milton Keynes, UK http://www.megalith.freeserve.co.uk/oddimage.htm |

If it's any help, I recently bought a hardly-used TRV80 (big brother of the TRV60 with 3.5" LCD) for £325 on E-bay. Another "little used" TRV80 sold on E-bay three days ago for £200. You can buy new "clone" batteries for all the Sony camcorders for between £18 and £30 on E-bay depending on type and size. Just search for 'NP-FM70' or 'NPFM50' for Sony TRV60/TRV80. -- Tony Morgan http://www.camcord.info |
