Default Sony DV video to CD

I have been trying to make a VCD of a 23 minute Video from my Sony Cam
Corder.
I'm using Image Maker VER 1.5 that came with the camera. I have installed a
Firewire board which works fine. The whole capture process seems complete
and conversion takes place but is interrupted before completion with comment
that there is insufficient HHD space. I have a 18GB drive with 9.4GB still
available. Comments please.
Thanks
Bill

Fit a bigger drive. DV works out at 13gb an hour. I expect your software is
transferring to disk as DV, and then converting. You could try capturing
from analogue direct to VCD quality MPEG.

Also the process will need lot's of tempory space, such as space to create
an image to burn, which although you are only creating a VCD is still
650mb, which is a lot when only 9gb is free.

Bite the bullet and set up your system for DV editing and DVD burning. That
means adding an extra 200GB video drive just for video, and a DVD burner.
That's isn't as expensive as you might think.
But then again any system with only a 18gb drive is going to have components
which are comtemporary to such a drive. i.e. slow, so it will take hours to
process anything.
