Default End Titles

I am trying to replicate some end titles I've seen recently. In these titles
the video compresses horizontally to the left, thus allowing the titles to
scroll on the right.

I can make the "title" overlay using Microsoft Moviemaker, but I can't do
the compression using Sony Vegas. Vegas does have an FX which will compress
horizontally, but leaving the video in the center.

Anyone know of an editor which compress video horizonatly, with the video
fixed to the left or right sides?

Editstudio (I've just tried it: it will resize a video clip more-or-less
to order, but you'll have to do all the sizing manually. It has
key-framing, so you would be able to squash the video down and back up
if wanted)

yes, Vegas

just untick 'stretch to fill frame' when you do the pan/crop (i'm assuming
this is how you are doing it)

Christ, the ******* that thought that wheeze up so that they can trail
some other crappy programme that's about to start wants to be taken out
and dragged over red hot razor wire!

'Course, that's just what I think.

I shall try that. There are that many options with Vegas you sometimes
can't see the wood for the trees!

I was looking for an FX filter as they have one which compresses but only to
the center.

If not I shall try out Mike's suggestion of Editstudio.

I have just tried this. Pan/crop does not compress the video horizontally,
only the "window" through which the video is "copied".

I don't think that's exactly what John has in mind - he wants the titles in
one half, moving video in the other.

I understand what you mean, though. It always happens when you're wanting to
see the cast list too. It's not as annoying as the "Next program" prompt
that comes up at the top of the screen just at the finale, though.

Quite a few recent films have used this for their credit sequences. Like a
sort of "Out Takes Showcase" or so you can actually see who's who on the
credits list.
I can't for the life of me remember which film it was, but a DVD I watched
recently had very effective credits where anyone and everyone involved were
shown in a sidestream as mentioned.

I'm currently nicking the idea to include in a DVD of the Snakes of Spain -
you get to see all the shots of the Producer, Director, Herpetological
Consultant and Chief Cameraman getting bit, falling off rockpiles, sinking
in mud upto his backside, getting whacked in the face by a branch as he
hangs out of a 4WD, etc. and generally practising his skills in the Anglo
Saxon language.

I've manged the "simple" case of getting the credits overlayed on half the
video. What I want to do is to compress the complete video horizontally into
the half screen that's visible.
