When using the Aldi DVD adaptor, It doesn't matter how I configure PVR plus, after capturing streaming video to file and trying to convert it with the MPEG encoder programme, it always shows the fps as being 29.97 instead of 25, has anyone else encountered this when using this particular software?.. Yup - I mentioned it somewhere near the top of the thread. Only solution I could find was to use different capture software. I bought and installed one last night. Using the standard TVR software I was able to capture at 25fps just fine. I had the capture set to DVD (PAL), left the bit rate and everything else alone I think. The resulting file was reported as having 25fps. FWIW, I did not install their USB drivers despite the insistence. I have XP with SP1 and thought I'd give it a go anyway. Everything appears to work properly, although I only had time to play for 15 minutes. I hope to look into it more at the weekend. |

Try converting the captured file with the MPEG encoder programme, and see what the fsp info at the top of the window shows. |

Ivan's right - although it told me it was importing PAL, further processing in external apps showed the frame rate to be 29.97. |

Not sure I understand that bit... maybe when I get home and have another look. The file is already in MPEG format, so I don't see why I need to run the converter on it. Ivan's right - although it told me it was importing PAL, further processing in external apps showed the frame rate to be 29.97. When I loaded the files into my DVD authoring program, it reported 25fps. I couldn't tell within Media Player because it doesn't show me that information. |

| OK, I just checked my captured files with AVIcodec and it is reporting all of them as:- xMB, 3950 Kbps, 25.0fps, 720*576 (4:3), MPG2 = MPEG 2 (SVCD/DVD) Not sure what else I need to do ![]() Capture settings in PVR Plus a- Device: USB Video 2800 Vid-in format: YUY2 Cap format: DVD(PAL) Cap Size: 720x576 Bit rate: 3950 Cap Quality: Highest (but have used high & normal as well) Frame rate: 25 That's it. |

I've just tried again - nothing different to what I did first time around - and it's now reporting 25 fps in both MediaStudio Pro (my editor) and BitRate viewer. I've obviously made a mistake somewhere along the line, but I don't know what it is - I still have the original MPEGs that showed 25fps in the PVR settings window, but show 29.97 in MSP. All I can suggest to Ivan is to try again and see if it's a "shutdown/restart" thing. If not, try capturing using a different capture app and then go back to PVR and see if it makes any difference. I don't know what worked for me, but it has... |

I don't know what worked for me, but it has... I'm pretty new to all of this, so apart from altering the field rate I left it in the default configuration, which was set at capture format MPEG 2 (which I assumed was the DVD process) and have now reset it to 'DVD PAL' which seems to have improved matters as regards recording onto the hard drive without involving any conversion before burning a DVD. However it does seem that the conversion programme still seems to be permanently fixed at 29.97 fps what ever file one throws into it . A couple of problems I've noticed so far with recorded DVD's is that the lip sync is out, only by a 'small' margin although enough to be annoying. This evening I recorded Timewatch on BBC2 and it was noticeable on playback, however half way through the recording for some reason the picture quality deteriorated to a point where it became blocky yet in the couple of minute's that the problem manifested itself the sound and vision came back into sync! I'm not blaming PVR Plus for this problem as I've had jerkiness and audio sync problems using other programmes such as Power producer gold and Neo-DVD, so perhaps my recently refurbished computer is still not quite up to the job, maybe another 512 megs of DDR memory will improve the situation? |
