| Apologies in advance if this is a stupid question but here goes: I have captured footage from a DV camera, edited it in Pinnacle 9.3 and burned it to a DVD. Now but rather than save/archive the edited AVI files from Pinnacle, can I now delete these on the assumption that if I want to re-use/re-edit the footage at a later date, there is an easy way to extract it from the DVD? --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Version: 6.0.516 / Virus Database: 313 - Release Date: 01/09/2003 yes you can , but there is a major caveat your dvd , assuming one hour in length will be just about 4GB your 1 hour dv tape was 13GB for the same size in time. so you will only have a more compressed version available for re-editing later. far better to keep the dv tape somewhere safe if you intend to re-edit later. | "Bob Edwards" schrieb im Newsbeitrag ... ... if I want to re-use/re-edit the footage at a later date, Bob: Good question. Depending on importance, uniqueness, of the shooting, I am often saving my DV / DVCAM camera footage on Fuji S-VHS Pro archive tapes. Linking the DVCAM player to a SVHS edit recorder, incl bars, blackburst and tone, the loss can be neglected. Cheers Chris Kiel, Germany |

Version: 6.0.516 / Virus Database: 313 - Release Date: 01/09/2003 To avoid total re-rendering and further loss in quality when re-editing the MPEG you need an MPEG editor which can detect the MPEG format used on the DVD and use that as the project settings. I believe Wombat's MPEG video editor can do that, can't comment on others. |
