I have my HC30E set to easy cam as I have found this gives me the best
results. I check the focus and zoom prior to putting my helmet on 5 min
before leaving the plane. I have a Lanc remote called a Cam Eye which
as well as offering a remote record button, gives me an LED that shows
that the camera is on and either Recording or that there is a
power/tape problem.

If your interested I can post some of my footage for you to check out.

It would make me dizzy.

I'd also suggest using an LCD protector - a very thin semi-adhesive
film. Jessops do one for a little over £3 (there are three in the
pack) and are large enough to be cut down for any make/model
camcorder..

How removable are these, and do they leave any residue?

I can't comment from personal experience. However they seem to be
universally available and used on mobile phones and PDAs that use touch
screens. I don't recollect any adverse comments about them or their use.
When I had my Jornada (three years ago now), HP offered them as
accessories. They are also available for the large touch screens that
are used in medical monitoring (ECG etc).

Just watching the F1 practice has reminded me that the race drivers have
similar protectors on their visors - though how much they are like what
we are talking about here, I can't say. But you often see the F1 drivers
in the rain tearing them off :-)

Skydivers know why the birds sing

Of course god meant us to fly thats why he gave us the ability to invent
aircraft and parachutes.

A similer philophsy led to european colonists believing it was god's will
that they should invent the hand gun and kill Native American's!

Whatever capacities we have we shouldn't justify our own personal desires as
being the "will of God".
