| ":::Jerry::::" wrote in message ... Why? Does a brand only have to be available in high street stores to be "recognizable" then? Yes, as I've pointed out, just saying that something is popular on a web site is cheap, so is stocking them in cheap warehousing (or even only buying in what you then ship out...), OTOH for a retail outlet to carry stock on an expencive shelf will mean that it must sell (although there are exceptions to this - notably 'sheds' and supermarkets). But that does not prove that they are popular or even half decent quality, just cheap... I have no idea where you are coming from here. The point you made was that you had never heard of datawrite as they were not a brand you thought "recognisable". As I and others have pointed out - they are in fact one of the largest DVD brands. Whether they only available on-line or in stores is irrelevant. They are still a large well recognised brand, with a very good reputation. Similarly Ritek (ridisk, ridata) who I and others also suggested. http://www.ritek.com/ You wont find these in many high street stores either. Yet they are one of the worlds biggest manufacturer of DVD media, and whose products have one of the highest reputations for quality. Yet because you cannot buy them in your local WH Smiths you are going to dismiss them or Datawrite? Weird. Loz |

| Dave Hall wrote: But that is exactly what happened with my ones. I could play them fine on the computer with WinDVD but they stuttered and jumped, hung etc on the domestic player. Exactly the same symptoms. Now that I use TMPEnc to burn they play anywhere. Give it a try. I bet that is the reason! As it turned out, this would indeed appear to be the problem. I've been using the trial version of Ulead Mediastudio Pro over the last couple of days, and the burn from that works fine n my domestic player. The source video and audio clips were the same as the ones I used for the dodgy burns done in other software. I'm not sure what settings I used - I just took the 720x576 PAL DVD defaults that MSP uses.
