Anyone here actually use these cards with Premiere Pro 1.5?
I'm a bit worried that a few 'hard-core' Matrox users I know
say the RT's have always been very 'picky' with hardware
(motherboard etc). Does Premiere Pro 1.5 still 'integrate'
better (eg show real-time transitions etc) with the RT's than
any other card, or have Adobe made it work with other
semi/pro (or whatever the marketing hype is) cards?
Cheers,

That's all arse about face if I may say so ! :~)

Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 *will* work in RT without any 'extra boards' [1]
_BUT_ it NEEDS a high spec' system to do so well [1] (ie. duel processor
motherboard and the such) but by using a RT board the RT work is taken away
to some extent from the main system CPU. Now the problem is not with Adobe
but with the various RT board suppliers, many are now developing and pushing
their own editing software and are or have dropped support for (what is now
their competitor) Adobe.

Matrox seems to be the only RT board supplier who now bundle Premiere.

[1] as long as your system meets the minimum spec'.
[2] there are companies such as 'ADS tech' who bundle Premiere with a plain
IEEE1394 board.

When I use the term 'RT' I mean RT = Real Time, not as in the 'RTx100'

OK, thanks, Jerry. The reason for the arse-about-face stuff is that I
can get massive educational discounts on RTX/Adobe bundle, so was
looking at it from that POV. I suppose I'll just have to use one of the
mobo's Matrox recommend for the RTX's (or go for a completely
different solution - there are plenty about these days.. I've been
using Premiere from v1 thru 6.5 but a quick look at Pro 1.5 makes
me think experience of earlier versions may not be of much use and
it'll be steep learning-curve time again, anyway!.. :-\
Cheers,

You should be OK Rob, there are only a few things that are signifantly
different, but mostly it's the same. I was originally very against Pro
because I couldn't see how to do certain things, but now I know what to
do, I really like the product. Much better than 6.

If you are going to buy matrox plus premiere pro , i would do it soon.

Prices are set to rise steeply if a trade rumour turns out to be true,
or worse in that Premiere may not be available in the bundle.

What are they trying to do, commit suicide ?!...

Other than Avid all the competition is getting cheaper or more expensive, if
you are correct Gary it seems like Adobe might be trying to go follow the
IBM / Microsoft business model - and we all know what happen to IBM and what
is starting to happen to Microsoft.
