Default XP and NV-DA1

Many months ago tried my Pana NV-DA1 with XP (pro) on my
brother-in-law's PC.

XP did not recognize my NV-DA1.

Tried various combinations of switching on/off connecting etc etc but
nothing worked.

I understand that compatibility between a NV-DA1 and XP is an issue.

Win ME on my PC picks up my NV-DA1 with no probs. what so ever.

I am wanting to UG to Win XP Home (For other reasons) but would really
like to know has any body got a NV-DA1camcorder working with XP
before I make the jump.

An email to Panasonic recommended that I ring their helpline from
which suitable drivers can be bought.
Can they hell...............they can sell me a digital/stills editing
suite for £178 +VAT that will work with XP but not the drivers I was
wanting....there's no such thing Sir............

Any body solved this or am I really going to have to sell this
excellent little camcorder if I want to go from ME to XP

Many thanks.

Default XP and NV-DA1

Not only camcorders.
I have a Polaroid iON 230 digital camera and XP doesn't recognise that
either.
If I find a solution I will post it to this ng

Default XP and NV-DA1

Strange My XP Home system has had no problems at all recognising my NV-DA1.

And I have re-installed WinXP several times due to various reasons but never
had any problems on any install to get it recognised. Just plugged it in and
bing bong camera recognised.

I have also adjusted my camera to allow DV-input as well as output. The same
cable that interfaces the camera with the PC for the digital stills is the
same interface to make the camera`s software changes for input and output.
The cable can easily be made and all the details for modifying the NV-DA1
are available on the web. Unfortunately I do not have the web address but a
quick search and you should be able to find the info you need.

There's a known problem after updating XP to SP1 that
affects some Panasonic camcorders (yours isn't mentioned,
but it may still be applicable). Maybe that's what affected
your brother-in-law's PC? See:
