| "corlioni1976" wrote in message ... Hi All I bought a fire wire card and cable for about £25 the other week and when I connect my camera to me computer the connection is intermediate. When, for instance the light to my room is turned on the connection drops out or if there is other electrical noise then the connection drops out. does this sound like the cable is not shielded? Should it be shielded? Thanks naveed Hi Guys I found that the firewire cable was too long. It was about 1.5m long, but then I cut the cable and shortened it to about 20cm. (Sellotaped the wires). Now it works great and doesn't drop the connection. Thanks for all your help. Naveed |

Firewire should be fine upto 5m and many people use it at 20m without too many problems. I think it was more like a faulty cable than it being too long, but I'm glad it's now working :-) |
