Default canon 630i

I'd like to record my old VHS onto DV-tape so i can edit them on my pc. But
since i've got my DV-recorder second hand i dont have a manual. Canon
doesn't put them online as i was thinking when i bought it.
I got it so far as the sound and video apear on the camcorder by puting it
on av-dv mode but there is no record button.
Can somone please help me?

According to:
http://www.canon.com.au/home_office/home/story_676.html

the 630i does support analogue to digital conversion, but I can't really
help any further. Having said that, on most camcorders that support
AV -- DV, you'll have a menu setting saying exactly that [1]. Once
selected, you'll either have a separate small button, or use the main
record button.

With (some) Sonys you also have to press the little unmarked button next
to the small button that is marked REC.

I've got a 500i, if its in av-dv mode and you got audio and video i suggest
you take the tape out, connect the firewire to your computer and load you
capture programme. It should convert on the fly straight to your PC.

i have 530i
Camcorder has to be in VCR/play mode, press rec-pause on remote.
then press pause to start recording is the only way.

otherwise as said use digital passthru on firewire to PC.
