Default Camcorder in a go cart

I'm looking for bright ideas on how to mount a camcorder on a go cart
to get a steady shot of a lap of the track under race conditions.

A DIY counterbalanced steadycam is one consideration, anybody have any
other suggestions, or similar practical experience?

Jake

i've used a helmet camera recording to a Canon 530i miniDV to do similar.
You get the lean of the drivers head in corners too - looks pretty good,
and camera view is isolated from the vibration and bumps a bit .

www.helmetcamera.com is one such ready made unit
