| Anyone else remember seperates - camera, recorder, charger ect? I have a worn out Sony 4000P camera and a still working SLF1UB which was lightweight when I bought it but now weighs a ton. However the 35lux camera was better than quite a few 5lux cameras in lowish light as it didn't drop colours (unlike a CCD Panasonic with vcr built in) |

The first is an Akai VP-77 VHS (JVC clone) with separate (huge!) camera, charger and tuner. The camera has a mono videocon tube with a colour stripe filter...quite insensitive with nice comet tails...but good for 'Dr Who' effects when pointed at the TV. Later updated to a Telefunken VHS-C recorder and separate camera, both a lot smaller. This came with a 12v colour TV which you could all bolt together on a heavy shoulder mount. I'm just in the process of putting some of the old tapes onto DVD! Ian |
