Default New Camcorder

I have the Pana NV GS50 and am very happy with it. it has a very good colour
range and focus seems to be quite fast. it also has dv / analouge in and out
so is great for editing on a pc (or mac)
I paid £559 in jessops for it.
Dave.

thanks for the feedback Mike. I've never considered JVC, do you do much
video editing 'cos I've heard of problems with JVC cameras??

I too have read the reviews which talk about transport noise on the Canon
600's - I think it was always there on the 300 that I'm replacing, I

suppose
I just got use to editing it out on the PC??

I would still like to hear from someone who can give an opinion on the
Panasonic DV Cams.

The direct equivalent is the Canon MV600i with 18X optical zoom -

should
I pay a bit more and get the MV650i with 22X zoom and a card/still
picture facility (I have a Canon S45 digital camera, so don't really
need the still photo capability).

The advice I was given here when I asked a similar question was beware
of the 600i as there were reported problems with excess tape carriage
noise being recorded on the tape.

I was leaning towards a Sony but I didn't really fancy the touch screen
operation though again some people said they liked it.

In the end I got a JVC GR-D50, only had it a few of weeks but so far
there's nothing that would make me take it back under Jessops 1 month
return policy.

They also price matched it from £500 to £396 from a Dealtime internet
print out.
