Indeed, most imaging software actually does a chkdisk/f - though it's the software that runs it transparently and not through the command line. And to John, I'd also ask what happens if you decide to restore a "disk-clone" backup taken from NTFS onto a Win32 disk? Why would you do that? I'm not even sure it makes sense.
