Default DVD & Nero

I have Nero burning 5.5 but it doesn't give me the option of burning to DVD.
The DVD option is greyed out. What am I doing wrong?

What DVD player have you got, and what version of nero?

Pioneer 106D isn't recognised unless you have 5.5.10.42 for example.

Gary.

Download the Nero update patch to bring it to 5.5.10.42 an dthen you
will be able tyo burn to your dvd discs.

http://www.nero.com/en/download/nero-prog.html#download

BTW This will only work if your Nero version allows product updates.

Have you checked the drive in Nero (Is it called select recorder?) to
see if it is recognised as DVD writer?

OEM supplied versions of Nero are locked to the make and model of the
drive they are supplied with. Other drives will not work properly.

That has not been my experience.

There is a bit in the August issue of "PC Answers" on this very subject and
how to unlock it. Seems you have to buy a full ratail package or get a new
serial number.
To find out if you have an OEM version :-

Press help/about Nero. If there is a brand name against the version number
you have an OEM version that will only work with that drive. To upgrade you
need the serial number.
