Default Making DVDs with Studio 8

I've finally got round to capturing my mini-DV footage. I'm using Pinnacle
Studio 8, and have updated to the most recent version. I've burnt a SVCD to
my CD Rom with no problems, but am having problems writing with my Pioneer
104 DVD writer.

It keeps saying recording failed during the burning process. I've never had
any DVD problems with Nero and the like, so am a bit perplexed as to why
Studio should start adding to my coaster collection. I then figured I'd
generate playable files with Studio and burn with something else - The files
are processed and saved in a folder - But I'm trying to find a way of
putting them onj a DVD with Nero. If I try to port them all across as a
batch of data I'm told I need to select "video compilation" - Then I try as
a video file I'm told there are a load of non-compliant files in the
Video_ts folder...

Is this an unusual problem?

I'm torn between upgrading to Studio 9 and hoping that that'll work, or
upgrading my DVD player to a 107, though I'd rather do neither if there's a
cheaper fix!

Any ideas?

TIA

Andy

I also were a novice (at 81) in November last year when my son arrived
with a sony mini. Had to get a 855 as I needed to burn some standard
tapes - that was the start. I use Roxio which you will never see
mentioned here as there is no trouble to speak of.

I once generated one single coaster but have since made 10-15 DVD's
that have gone off to UK. The only complaint after that was that they
had to buy a player for the TV

Try creating DVD files or an image using Studio and burn using Nero.

That's what I've been trying to do, although I concede I may not have
explained it too well.

Studio saves all the files in a folder named "auxilary files" - When I try
buying these files with Nero I can't find the right settings. It won't load
as an image. If I try burning as a DVD movie it tells me there are the
wrong sort of files in the video_ts folder, and if I try burning as a data
disc it tell me I need to burn as a DVD movie.

Still stuck! I'm currently having one last go at using Studios own disc
creation option.

Have you first used Setup/Make MPEG File/Presets/DVD Compatible ?

and....

Setup/Make a disc/DVD + Automatic + select Media and the correct Disk
writer device.

I'd also suggest that you ensure that you have the latest upgrade to
Studio 8 (V8.12.7).

I hadn't done that, but I've not got round to making an mpeg file yet...
Just was trying to the Studio fully author a dvd buy burn the files to my
hard drive instead of to DVD.

Setup/Make a disc/DVD + Automatic + select Media and the correct Disk
writer device.

I had done that, but didn't select automatic. I selected "best video
quality" - My clip was only 30 mins long anyway.

I'd also suggest that you ensure that you have the latest upgrade to

That was the first thing I did.

Oddly I've tried with a cheap and nasty DVDRW, and that's worked
faultlessly. I'm not too worried now, I'll just use Studio to burn onto RWs
and can make copies of those onto R only with Nero. I assume from that it's
some sort of media problem, though it's weird when other programs don't
stutter with Datawrite Yellows and FWS whites.

Thanks anyway - I'll get there in the end, I'm sure. :-)

It's always a good idea to download/install EndItAll and run it
immediately before doing any video work.
