The Pioneer A04 seems to refuse to work as a slave device in my nVidia nForce system. It is very happy as a master on its own bus. When I add a slave DVD-ROM on the same bus, the Pioneer doesn't want to burn stuff. |

| "Joe" wrote in message ... It is not a good idea to have both burner and regular CD/DVD connect to same IDE port epecially if you want to burn on the fly. It's a good idea to make both of them SLAVE of hard drives (2 different IDE ports) True, however, most cases and cabling nowadays make that difficult to do, at least if you have a case designed to keep your hard drives cool. The HDD's are typically placed low in the case, behind cooling intake fans, whereas the 5.25 drives are placed high in the case, for ease of access. It's hard to find cables that reach both easily. ![]() |

| Aren't most burners only using PIO mode 4 to send/receive data to the PC? If so then that does not really stretch the capabilities of the data transmission capacity of the IDE cable. Would using this inefficient protocol in fact be stretched more? |

Now wouldn't that be nice, a true 48X DVD-ROM, 400X CD BURNER, and 48X DVD BURNER. I KNOW BURST, NOT REAL TRANSFER. |
