Semi professional cam corder up to £2K by Geoff Berrow
I'm looking to get into video production again after a long break. I'm aiming to make short videos, mainly for use on the web. Obviously I'd like as good a quality machine as I can afford, but I can only afford about £2000. SD recording would be preferred, as would professional quality audio connections and good low light capability. Two cameras seem promising Panasonic AG-HMC82 Panasonic...

Camcorder JVC D-240 (slow motion) by John[_11_]
Has anyone experience of this camcorder playing slow-motion clips as detailed in the manual? When I try, the clips playback at normal speed. Any advice would be appreciated. JVC have not been helpful.

Sony BDP-S370 Wi-Fi Dongle by John[_10_]
Hello. I have just bought my first ever Blu-Ray player a Sony BDP-S370 and it arrived today. A question. The official Sony Wi-Fi dongle for this player is quite expensive here in the UK at around £60 GBP ($94 USD). Can anyone confirm to me will any type of Wireless USB dongle still work with this player or do I need to get a specific type?

"Passthrough" VHSCamcorderiMovie gets "No Tape" error (Mac) by Bill Smith
Camera (Canon MV 550i) manual says "Don't have a tape in the camera when transferring VHS through camcorder to computer" (iMovie 6), and footage from VHS player clear as crystal on camcorder screen, but keep getting "Camera no tape" message in iMovie window. Computer recognises camcorder as it shows in iMovie's source dropdown list and also in System Profiler. Even more baffling, Apple's...

Flash/HD camcorders and iMovie input by Bill Smith
Using Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger), and currently iMovie '06, and Canon MV550i. Camcorder now chewing tape on rewind, so looking to replace it with a flash or a HD camcorder - camcorder only used for holidays, family events, local community activities, so very high quality output not essential. iMovie '06 absolutely requires a Firewire (iLink) connection, which the Canon has. I believe that iMovie...

Panasonic NV GS120 camcorder and Windows 7 (64 bit) by Eurofeeds
Does anyone know if I should be able to capture video (download from tape) from my camcorder to PC ( Windows 64 bit using Moviemaker)? I have tried using my sons Windows 7 (32 bit) which I used to use when it was running Vista, but I can't get it to work (using Windows Live Movie Maker it says it will rewind the tape but doesn't - using the proper Movie Maker 2.6 I get an error message...

Hi, I have a Canon XL2 which has a problem in that the 'DV out' does not work. Alll other outputs work fine. I have sought a quote from Jessops to repair the camera. RIP camcorder - replacement? by Mike Scott[_2_]
Ouch. 8-year-old Sony trv240 now has no firewire interface (a known problem with badly designed connectors, iirc??). Anyway, a quick phone call to Sony quotes me a fixed price of over £170 to repair, which is ludicrous. So, time for new camcorder I think. Trouble is, I'm way out of touch with developments. Is something like the Canon fs306 a reasonable replacement, without spending the...

Why is it? by alan.holmes
That every time I switch the video recorder on I get a messaged saying 'a new DVB service has been found? I let it run once a week, but as soon as I have let the thing run through the process of locating new programmes, the next day I get the same message, surely they cannot be introducing new stations every day? Copying video output to a HDD file? by Peter Jason
I have many old overseas movies which come with subtitles in files, or selectable subtitles from the menu in the player software such as "VLC" media player. I can get these to play OK on the computer, though it is hard to burn them to DVD/XVid with the subtitles of my choice imbedded in the image. Therefore I ask:

Laptop opinions for video-editing please by poachedeggs
I'm posting this on behalf of my friend, who is about to buy a laptop. She has a DV camera that's from back when they cost a bit, and a new Flip HD. She still very satisfactorily uses the DV camera with her 2004 Mac, which is a 1 ghz machine, possibly 1.3, with 1 gb of RAM. Her pc is older still, a 1 ghz machine with 512 mb of RAM. Obviously these are long in the tooth now, and we've been...

In the next few days I intend to purchase the Panasonic HDC-TM10 Hi Def camcorder .... by No Spam
Hi, In the next few days I intend to purchase the Panasonic HDC-TM10 Hi-Def camcorder. A review say " Plug the HDC-TM10 into a PC using the mini-USB cable and you can obviously copy your photos and video off directly. Video footage is encoded in the AVCHD format as .MTS files. Panasonic supplies its fiddly HD Writer software for content management, plus basic editing and conversion."
