I recently naively thought I could remove the HD from my Philips DVD
Hard Drive recorder, copy the data over to my computer and then free
up some space.

On connecting it to my Linux machine the partition editor (gparted)
showed it as an unformatted drive.

Does anyone know if there is any way I can read this data and/or copy
it over.

I have done a Google search on various keywords to no avail.

I too have done some reading Seams the disc system in PVR's ( I have a
Daewoo) is Linux based the files have also to be converted. So you need a
Linux system or dual boot and the converting software.
I will stick to playing back to the Panasonic DVD recorder or on to the
Archos that records as Mpeg 4
