I'm not sure what you've done, but it is best to use Vidomi with
the original WinTV file.
My Iomega Screenplay will be returned.
I did a straight copy of the original WinTV MPEGs to a DVD and they played
fine on a Proline TV with built in DVD player as well as 8 year old
Philips TV with built in DVD player.
The latter sealed it for me, if an old Philips machine can play the files
OK then a new device surely should.
Thanks for your advice, I learnt a bit about the make up of video files.

OK Geoff, I've compiled a guide on how to convert WinTV files
to a more compatible format for your Iomega media player.
This is the freeware, and it is excellent and a beauty to use:

To download, just click the "free download" button,
Do NOT select to open, but save to a folder - desktop, or My Documents etc.
Now, before you do anything, read the guide I've composed, and the email
too.
