Default Problem Playing MPEGs

I'm not sure what you've done, but it is best to use Vidomi with
the original WinTV file.

My Iomega Screenplay will be returned.

I did a straight copy of the original WinTV MPEGs to a DVD and they played
fine on a Proline TV with built in DVD player as well as 8 year old
Philips TV with built in DVD player.

The latter sealed it for me, if an old Philips machine can play the files
OK then a new device surely should.

Thanks for your advice, I learnt a bit about the make up of video files.

Hi
I had a look for your Iomega Screenplay, and it transpires it
it is a rebadged version of the korean made Hyundai Media recorder
Model HDR-350Q
http://www.aria.co.uk/VendorStores/H...roductId=29526
As is the Ellion HMR-700
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ellion-HMR-7.../dp/B000TF6BZ4

Now, if you do a search on these products, the common issue
seems to be they require a firmware update to ensure compatibility
and fix bugs etc.
This is very similar to issues with DVD burners, that require firmware
updates to make compatible with the ever expanding range of blank media.
If you do a more profound search than the one I performed, you will find
that many have found that a firmware update from one of the others
will work with any, the only issue seems to be that the firmware update
that would increase the max capacity from 500gb to one terrabyte only
works with the Hyundai, not with the Ellion or Iomega, but all other
firmware
updates do work with all models, and in your case would seemingly cure the
MPEG2 compatibility issues.
If you still have the Iomega, and you would like to try the firmware update
option, let me know and I'll look up the update and try and compile a guide
for you. But...
It is important to note, that though an Ellion (Or Hyundai) firmware update
would work, it may well invalidate the warranty?
Another option is to convert the WinTV MPEG2 files to another file format -
WMV, DviX etc, this may result in a higher compatibility ratio than with
MPEG2's, it is worth a try, if you'd like I can direct you to a free
download
that converts to all formats, and I'll supply a full guide.
Let me know what route you'd like to try.
