My daughter has a WinTV PVR900 device.

She recently recorded 4 programs, each play fine in VLC but using
Windows Media Player or an Iomega media player device (No computer
needed) I get major sound video sync problems.

What would be the reason for this.

Could be lots of things. In what format are they you say Mpeg but is it Mpeg
1, 2 or 4 that later will have an avi icon.
Maybe the other devices don have the correct codec for the format
