Hi,
After downloading the trial of Sony Vegas Studio Platinum 9, I
eventually (after some hours) found it won't import sound with avi
files:

Are you sure that it's not just a restriction in the trail version,
sorry but I haven't followed your URL as I do not follow any
tinyurl.com link for security reasons, perhaps you could post the full
URL? Normally one of the things people prise about the Vegas family of
video editors is their audio capabilities!
On the basis that I am looking to pay for video editing software
that will actually do the job without being dependant on 3rd party
plugs, can anyone recommend a decent product for under £100.
This will only be used perhaps 6 times a year, so I don't have a
need to learn the ins and outs of every option. Just simple and
reliable clipping, editing etc.
Have you looked at Adobe Premiere Elements
(http://www.dvc.uk.com/acatalog/Adobe_Premiere_Elements_3.html), in
fact for just over your 100 quid you can get both Premiere and
Photoshop Elements...
