After downloading the trial of Sony Vegas Studio Platinum 9, I eventually
(after some hours) found it won't import sound with avi files:

On the basis that I am looking to pay for video editing software that will
actually do the job without being dependant on 3rd party plugs, can anyone
recommend a decent product for under £100.

This will only be used perhaps 6 times a year, so I don't have a need to
learn the ins and outs of every option. Just simple and reliable clipping,
editing etc.
