Default Display of computer on TV.

Still can't get my laptop to display in colour on my Philips TV. I'm
using a 3 metre cable to connect from the S-Video on laptop to a scart
socket on the TV (as shown in the P.Bell Instruction Guide that came with
the laptop.)

Can anyone please advise?

S video consists of two separate signals - the luminance (black and white)
and the colour. The TV's SCART may well be a composite inout, where the
luminance and colour are combined on a single signal.

I wonder if the cable is just feeding lunimance to the TV's composite input.

Does the TV also have an S-video input - maybe on a front-panel connection?
It's a round socket with four pins, a bit like a mouse or keyboard conection
on a PC. Try using that with a cable that has S-video connectors on each
end.
