It's digital - you either get a signal, or you don't.

You might get more longevity, or more recordings per tape, but none will
give you better quality. If your current tape gives you recordings without
dropout problems, stick with it - that way you won't ever find out if this
rumour about dry vs wet tap lubricant is true or bunkum...
