DVD+/-R compatibility "G Hardy" wrote in message

I ended up geting some Ritek DVD-R (8x). I've distributed 56 of these
DVDs
now and so far (touch wood) only one has been returned as un-playable.
However, cleaning off the grubby fingerprints, made this one play too
(can't
do much for the scratch that has mysteriously appeared though).
What brand of Riteks are you using? I bought a sizeable number of Ridisc
Xtreme (using the Ritek G05 dye) and they won't burn at 8X in a Pioneer
107.
They will burn all the way to 4.7GB ifI specify 6X, but if I specify 8X I
get a power calibration error after a few hundred MB has been burned
(apparently, Pioneers burn 650MB at 6X and _then_ do the calibration to
see
if 8X is possible). It's not the drive, firmware, software, disc speeds,
CPU
speed etc 'cos I can burn at 8X fine with my ANV discs (which also use the
G05 dye).
I got them from scan.co.uk. 50 for 8.99+VAT. G05-L23 dye.
I burned them at 4x. Can't say if they'll burn at 8x, I didn't take any
risks. |
