I played back a MiniDV tape recorded using LP Mode on a panasonic cam,
in my sony cam which surprised me, as i've heard of problems with
recordings in LP Mode.

Sometimes you can, but it's not to be relied on. IIRC a lot of camcorder
manuals warn you about this.
